With the sudden emergence of CBD and CBD oils, many people have gained curiosity in what CBD is, and how CBD can help the overall quality of life for those that struggle with ADHD.

Can CBD oil will can help manage the symptoms that come with ADHD? Lets find out.

Cannabidiol oil is one of the most popular uses of the marijuana plant.

Cannabidiol comes from a plant family that is called cannabis, it can be used in several different ways, and it has a wide range of medicinal benefits. Cannabidiol is not THC, so it will not cause you to feel any kind of euphoria, or any other kind of “high” for that matter. CBD oil is not supposed to contain any traces of THC, this means that it is an oil that needs to be highly refined so that it is appropriate and suitable for use.

CBD oil is not a natural product because of the process of refinement that it has to undergo to be ready for use. The only concern that users have with utilizing this product is the possibility of trace amounts of THC being present in them. This makes this product unsuitable for anyone under the age of 18 to use without proper supervision, because there are some extremely rare cases in which using CBD oil products that are unrefined could lead to addiction.

There has been research that proves that CBD oil aids in alleviating the symptoms that come with worry and stress.

It is because of this research that scientists are led to believe that CBD oil could do the same for people who struggle with ADHD, and the symptoms that come along with it. Researching CBD oil and its benefits is not new, but researching CBD oil specifically for ADHD is relatively new. There has been some research that has been conducted on ingested and smoked marijuana for ADHD. The findings either fail to see any specific benefits or have been inconclusive. The research for worry and stress has shown much more promise overall.

There is a new medication that was created to reduce the severity of the symptoms of those struggling with Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome that has been approved by an advisory committee for the Food and Drug Administration, but because it is only an advisory committee, it has not gained full FDA approval.

The Medical Studies

One of the studies that were conducted by the Food and Drug administration was a randomised-controlled trial that included a rather small sample size of 30 people that have ADHD. They were each given cannabidiol and CBD medication over a specific period of time. Each of the participants were evaluated for different symptoms as well as their IQ performance on standardized tests.

The study found that there was little to no improvement on symptom reduction and cognitive performance. However, there was improvement on hyperactivity and impulsivity.

The research team believed that the results of the study were underwhelming due to the participants not following the strict instructions of avoiding alcohol and all other medications. The researchers came to the conclusion that the results of the study had been inconclusive.

Due to the recent failure that the FDA experienced with the previous study, they decided to conduct a different one that focused on the impact of cannabis use and ADHD in young adults. The results of this particular study looked promising. Many of the patients that were included in the study stated that they felt a sense of calm, were able to relax, and felt a little less manic.

Among the patients in this study, 24 of them struggled with worry as a side effect of having ADHD. The portion of the patients who took the CBD oil were able to speak in front of a large audience.

In Germany in 2015, researchers took a closer look at the relationship between CBD and ADD in about 30 patients.

The results of the study were that all 30 patients stated that they had experienced a better quality of sleep, were able to focus on their tasks, and had a reduced amount of impulsivity while using CBD oil products. Another study that was conducted in 2008 by a team of German researchers observed positive results. In this case study they tested the effects of CBD oil on a 28 year old male patient with ADHD. After they administered the CBD oil it was noted that the patient benefited from the CBD treatment, and the CBD treatment had a positive impact on on mental state, performance, and behavior.

CBD oil also had positive effects on driving related performance, which led researchers to believe that CBD improved the innate ability to focus, and focus is one of the main things that people with ADHD struggle with.

Although there have been no clinical trials that have been conducted on a large scale, it is still very clear that there is a positive correlation between the non-intoxicating component in cannabis, CBD, and ADHD, ADD, and several other disorders.

Taking into consideration the studies that have been mentioned above, and the amount of overwhelmingly positive anecdotal evidence, it is clear that the future of natural medicines including CBD is closer than we think.

It is clear that using CBD oil for ADHD is a safe, effective, and reliable option for treatment for patients of all different ages and backgrounds.
